Radix MDM for Education–Addresses Today’s Challenges in the Classroom

Across the US, a majority of the more than 56 million students enrolled in K-12 schools have attended school remotely either full-time or part-time. It has been a challenge to make the shift to remote and hybrid learning environments, not just for teachers and administrators, but also for the IT teams and support teams that needed to manage the process.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a platform that let you manage every device, take remote control when there is a problem, and make everything easier? There is. We designed the Radix Device Manager for Education to make the job of managing devices for education simple.

While simplifying the task of managing a fleet of devices for IT teams, it also frees up teachers to spend less time worrying about technology and more time teaching. It also lets principals and administrators feel confident that devices are being used securely and properly.

10 Advantages of the Radix Device Manager for Education

Here are 10 ways Radix MDM for Education can help you manage your entire fleet more efficiently.

  • Remote troubleshooting
  • Deployment/Enrollment
  • Support for different devices and operating systems
  • Messaging and Communication
  • Smart Recovery
  • Anti-theft and geo-fencing
  • Kiosk Mode
  • Policy Setting
  • Remote software deployment
  • Reporting

1. Remote Troubleshooting

With students at home and – at times – teachers and administrators working remotely, troubleshooting can be more of an issue when you can’t easily get your hands on a device.

When there’s a problem, remote troubleshooting lets your support team take control remotely and perform whatever tasks need to be done to solve the problem. It doesn’t require installing additional software.  Support teams can use the Radix MDM for Education cloud-based platform to connect to any device from any browser.

You will be able to alert and request access or provide remote support for unattended devices.

2. Deployment/Enrollment

The process of enrolling and deploying hardware can be time-consuming. Radix MDM for Education allows you to deploy devices in less time by executing preset configurations and settings. When you connect devices for the first time, you can automatically configure them to your custom setting without any user intervention.

This means that devices or your network will be ready to go as soon as you take them out of the box, switch them on, and connect them.

3. Support for Different Devices and Operating Systems

The Radix MDM for Education makes it easy for you to manage all your devices and operating systems in one interface.

  • Android devices, such as tablets, phones, and touchscreens
  • Chromebooks and Chrome boxes
  • Windows desktops, laptops, desktops, Virtual machines running Windows
  • Apple devices running iOS or Mac OS

The Radix MDM for Education can also support Kiosks, digital signage, or interactive touchscreens in school or on location.

4. Messaging and Communication

Need to get information out to everyone at the same time, a group of students, or individual users? Customized messages can be sent easily from the device management platform or remotely. You are not limited to sending only text messages either. The customized messages can incorporate alert sounds, audio, or images.

There are multiple options for deployment, including triggering messages based on login, predefined scenarios, policies, or location.

5. Smart Recovery

Smart recovery of devices can be a lifesaver for IT teams – especially if there’s a system malfunction. The Radix MDM for Education allows you to automatically restore Windows systems to their original configurations and working conditions in just a few systems. This mitigates any potential damage from crashes, human errors, and security lapses.

6. Anti-theft and Geo-Fencing

Geo-fencing can track where school-owned devices go and detect if they’re taken outside allowed perimeters. You can program the Radix MDM to send an alert as soon as a device leaves a designated area.

Alternatively, the Radix MDM can also remotely lock a device if it gets lost or stolen. You can also remotely wipe the data and content from the device.

7. Kiosk Mode

With kiosk mode, you can create an encapsulated environment and restrict usage to the tools you allow. You can choose how your device looks and feel and what functionality can exist.

Teachers will love kiosk mode because it only allows students access to the teaching tools they are given. This reduces distractions such as playing games, browsing online or accessing other software.

8. Policy Setting

The Radix MDM for Education lets you easily set group policies or fine-tune device settings for every device in your fleet. Policies can help you maintain better control over devices and limit the access that may impact security, such as:

  • Limiting software installation or changing device configurations
  • Restrict access to local storage, such as USB drives
  • Disable (or enable) Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cameras
  • Lockdown external ports

Admins can enforce multiple profiles or create customized environments.

9. Software Deployment

With the Radix MDM for Education, managing software on remote devices is easy. You can control installation and perform updates from a central repository or Google or Apple stores without requiring user intervention.

You can update or install the software on individual devices or across an entire fleet on the fly or via a preset schedule.

10. Reporting

Stakeholders at all levels can take advantage of the Radix MDM for Education’s reporting tools. You can look globally at device usage or drill down to individual devices to check.

The Radix MDM for Education provides tools for all stakeholders to optimize performance.

  • IT admins: Centrally manage, monitor, and secure devices
  • Teachers: Manage the process for remote learning
  • Principals:  Analyze device usage
