Overview
We will explain the workings of the Radix Device Manager account credits system, and how to calculate, purchase, and redeem credits.
Device Credits
When you create an account on the Radix Device Manager, you’ll purchase a certain number of credits, depending on the number of devices you wish to enroll in the system, and the number of years of your subscription. Presently, the minimum number of devices that you can enroll is five. There is also a one-time account setup fee.
Each device connected to the server consumes 1 credit per day (365 credits per year). This means that if you want a yearly license to cover 10 devices, you will need 3,650 credits. A 3-year contract will require 3 x 3,650 = 10,950 credits.
If you add new devices to your fleet (for example, five more devices, for a total of 15 devices) they will also consume daily credits. You do not need to purchase more credits as soon as you add these five new devices, because you already have a “bank” of 3,650 credits. But, that bank will now be consumed by 15 devices. At this rate, your account will last 3,650/15 = 244 days.
The account credits system is very accurate and flexible. It allows you to:
- Be precise in your payment cycles,
- Pay only for the number of connected devices,
- Set up a yearly plan that renews automatically,
- Immediately remove lost/broken devices from the payment cycle,
- Add or remove devices without the need to purchase additional licenses for them,
- Have a “bank” of bulk credits that are consumed centrally rather than by a “named device license”.
Your Account Dashboard
- You can access the Account Dashboard by clicking on your username in the upper right-hand corner of the Device Manager interface:
- Click on Billing. The Account Dashboard opens, showing you the status of your account:
Here is a brief explanation of the major fields in the Billing Console:
- Account status This can be in one of three states: Active, Disabled, or Trial.
- Account created: The date when the account was registered.
- Account credits How many credits in total are left (available) to date.
- Days remaining The total number of days left for the account.
- Billing history This pane displays any transactions made on your account: how many credits you used or purchased, the date of the transaction, your balance, and the source of the transaction. By clicking the “Show device coupons” button at the upper right, you can toggle between viewing all transactions, including credits from device coupons, or only credits from online purchases.
- Redeem credits from coupon code This allows you to manually enter a coupon code and redeem the coupon towards the purchase of credits. Clicking the “Redeem” button credits your account with the specified number of credits in the coupon. Your balance before and after adding the coupon will appear in the “Billing History” screen.
- Credit calculator This allows you to determine the number of credits needed according to the duration and number of devices.
How to Calculate the Number of Credits
- Enter the number of years by typing in the number or using the up/down arrows.
- The number of devices you anticipate managing during that time, This does not have to be exact: you can purchase less credit than you actually need at present and add more credits later. Alternatively, you can purchase more credits than you need at present, if you anticipate adding new devices.
- The Billings Console then displays the total number of credits in the account credits system.
- You have the option of taking this number to your local reseller and ordering credits offline (the reseller might be able to offer you a better price, as he is part of the Radix partner program which includes bulk purchase discounts).
- Click on the Buy button to purchase online, or to send a purchase order to your vendor.
When you click on Buy, the Buy Now screen opens:
You can use your license for up to 1 year from the purchase date. As this is a SaaS model, the remaining balance will clear at the end of the license period, whether you utilize the Radix Device Manager service or not. Therefore, we advise purchasing the exact number of licenses that you require. You can always add more at any given time.
How to Redeem Offline Purchases
When you purchase credits, they are either updated automatically to your account, or a code is sent back to you for a manual update.
To redeem the code:
- Copy the coupon code and paste it to the Redeem credits from coupon code tile on your Account Dashboard.
- Click on the Redeem button. Your credit balance will instantly update.
Billing history
The billing history tile will display your entire billing history and balance in the account credits system – before and after purchases.
